Week of October 18-22

 Hello Trailblazer Families, 

Wow! What a fun week at Diamond Creek. Thank you to all of our AMAZING volunteers and PTC for hosting an incredible Book Fair for our students along with some very fun Family Fun Events. Students enjoyed shopping for new books, painting pumpkins, playing games and enjoying the outdoors together! We appreciate all of you that helped make this happen for our DC families.

THIS THURSDAY - 10/21 - is ROCK YOUR SCHOOL DAY!! Our students will be engaged in a variety of learning experiences with some added fun! We can't wait for Thursday. Students are encouraged to wear their Rock Star gear if they'd like to!

At our Village Rally this week our students reviewed Habit #2: Know Before You Do. The new essential we discussed was asking for help if you have a problem. Students reviewed our essentials, performed some skits of these behaviors and had some great reflection time in their classroom. Here are the essentials we will be focusing on over the next month.

Habit #2: Know Before You Do
1. Plan Ahead and Set Goals
2. Learn from Your Mistakes
3. If you Can't Solve a Problem - Ask for Help

Our students have been practicing their Village chants and we wanted to share these with you as well! HERE are the chants if you'd like to practice at home too!

ROCK YOUR SCHOOL DAY: THIS WEEK!!
We are SO EXCITED to announce that on OCTOBER 21, 2021 DIAMOND CREEK will be ROCKIN OUR SCHOOL! This is a day that schools across our nation are participating in and we are so pumped to be part of this day again this year! We will be kicking off the day in a special way in each classroom followed by hours of meaningful, rigorous learning for our students. Our students will have the opportunity to visit some of our classrooms on this day that will be transformed into a glow room, medical room,"Starbooks", Campfire area and more! We will be doing lots of learning and using our environment to engage learners at high levels! More details to come - we can't wait!

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek  Thank you to all of our parents for taking time to meet with your child's teacher this week.  Our teachers appreciate this face to face meeting time with you.  We are all a team working together to help each child at Diamond Creek be successful and your support is such an important piece of the puzzle.  Thank you for your time and support! On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have our local Fire Department visit us and lead us through a fire safety assembly.  The students learned what to do in the case of a fire and were able to see the transformation that happens when our firefighters put on all of their gear.  On Wednesday, we had a building wide "READING DRILL".  We all stopped, dropped and read! It was a delight to see students throughout our whole building reading for 15 minutes all together.  I had so many students afterwards tell me they wished it was longer and ask if we could do that everyday! Week of September 12-16, 2022

  9/9/2022   Happy Friday Trailblazer families,   We completed our LEAD Passport adventure today.  Your children have now traveled to all 7 of our common areas to learn what it looks like to be great Listeners, be Empathetic, be Accountable and how to be Disciplined. Due to the smoke, we had them meet in their Village Meeting Spot and the presenters traveled to the students.
