Week of 5/15-19/23

Happy Friday Trailblazer families,

We had another amazing week here at Diamond Creek!  One of the highlights was a visit from one of our Kindergarten parents and his co-worker that are California Highway Patrolmen.  The kindergarteners had a blast learning about their jobs and getting to check out the squad car and motorcycle.  Thank you so much for coming to visit our school!

NEXT WEEK IS OUR FINAL SPIRIT WEEK OF THE YEAR

Thank you to our members of Leadership Council and it’s staff advisors, Ms. Triplett and Mrs. Lopez for coming up with such fun ideas to show our spirit this year!

2023 Spring into Summer Book Fair

for volunteering for our Spring into Summer Book Fair! This fair runs Monday through Friday May 22nd-26th, with set-up on Friday morning, May 19th, and tear-down on Friday afternoon, May 26th. If you have ANY questions about a job be sure to ask! There are no silly questions! :) As a bonus, you get $5 Scholastic dollars to spend on Book Fair items for every hour worked. Admit it, you have your eyes on those scented gummy erasers, don't you? We can help! Here are the different types of shifts: Fair set-up: Transform the library by unpacking and setting out books and cases on Friday morning, May 19th. We hope to start at 10:00 AM but this is dependent on the fair being dropped off early morning.  Please leave your cell phone number so we can send text updates in case the fair hasn't arrived on time.  Preview shopping is available after set-up is complete! Cashiering: Fun and fast-paced during busy times! The registers are touch-screen and easy to learn, and we're always nearby for questions.

PTC NEWS

BOOK FAIR: Our last book fair of the year is the week of May 22!  Don’t forget to stop by during Open House on May 23!

BINGO NIGHT:  Join the Diamond Creek PTC for a night of fun, games and ice cream sundaes!  Wednesday, May 24 – 5:00- 6:30 pm in the Multi-purpose room.  Prizes include book fair money gift certificates to spend at the book fair.  This event is free but please RVSP so we have enough ice cream for everyone!

To make the evening a huge success, we need your help.  We love and appreciate your help!  See attached flyer for QR code to RSVP and sign up to volunteer!

END OF YEAR STAFF LUNCHEON:  Wednesday, May 24 – Please help us celebrate the end of the year as we treat our beloved Diamond Creek staff to a delicious end of year appreciation luncheon.  PTC is catering with sandwiches.  We want to thank you them for all they have done to make this such a successful year! We hope you can help us by signing up for an item:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0A44ACAC2FA4F85-endofyear1

FIELD DAY: We are getting excited for the end of the school year and that means FIELD DAY!  Field Day is June 2 and it is one of the best days of the school year where everyone gets to have fun!  This year to facilitate the best experience for the kids, all volunteers need to be a category 2.  Attention 4th & 5th graders parents – each 4th and 5th graders will need a field trip permission signed if you want your kids access to the exciting games and activities being offered at the park (upper grades will have more space and the park will be used this year).  If your child does not have a permission slip signed, they will not have access to the park to participate in this year’s activities. Please look for field trip permission slips coming home soon.

FIREWORKS:  Fireworks sign up is in full swing and we will be sending home a flyer for presale $10 tickets to spend at the booth – look for a flyer in backpacks for more information.  Surprise – we have been told if we sell enough Mrs. Phillips might do something the kids love to celebrate. [Possibilities could include dunk tanks or even being kissed by a pig]  To reserve your volunteer spot early, please visit: https://signupgenius.com/go/30e0a44acac2fa4f85-fireworks1#/

LOST and FOUND: It’s getting to be the end of the school year and you don’t want to miss out on your kid’s items. There are a lot of jackets, coats, water bottles, etc. that are waiting to return to their homes. Please stop by the front entry area to claim your items.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and happy Mother's Day weekend!

Warmest regards,

Mrs. Phillips
