Updates from our week at Diamond Creek  This week we had our second Reading Drill. Students have the opportunity to Stop, Drop and READ as an entire school! Students are enjoying the surprise of the drill and the opportunity to dive into their favorites books.  Our 3rd grade students were hard at work this week presenting their Holiday Traditions reports. Updates from our week at Diamond Creek  One of our exciting events this week included Santa's Elves visiting our first grade students! Students had written letters to the Elves who then delivered letters back to our students.  Our 1st grade students were thrilled to share their writing with the Elves and even took some of their free time later on to write thank you notes to them.  Coming up this week our Choir students have been hard at work for their Holiday Concert on Tuesday evening! We look forward to hearing their beautiful music!  Our 3rd grade students have also been hard at work preparing for their Holiday Play.  They will be presenting to our Diamond Creek students during the day and our parents the evening of December 14th.  Over the next two weeks you may notice our staff wearing similar apparel.  As a staff we started the 12 Days of Diamond Creek Cheer on Thursday with jeans and flannel day.  A few of our students noticed right away that our staff were all wearing

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek  We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break last week and enjoyed time with family and friends. I was excited on Monday to greet our students and welcome them back this week!  We had some exciting learning happening all around Diamond Creek this week. I am always amazed when walking through classrooms to see the progress our students have made since the beginning of the school year.  They are working hard each day! This week our 4th & 5th grade students were organized into villages at our kick off assembly.  The kids seemed to love the assembly and kick-off assembly!  The 8 villages are organized by colors and students will be picking village names and creating banners to represent their village.  Each village is comprised of a teacher along with 4th and 5th grade students.  Villages will be meeting every 3-4 weeks to discuss effective habit skills.  This month the focus will be on how to show appreciation and gratitude.    Our village

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek  Thank you to all of our parents for taking time to meet with your child's teacher this week.  Our teachers appreciate this face to face meeting time with you.  We are all a team working together to help each child at Diamond Creek be successful and your support is such an important piece of the puzzle.  Thank you for your time and support! On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have our local Fire Department visit us and lead us through a fire safety assembly.  The students learned what to do in the case of a fire and were able to see the transformation that happens when our firefighters put on all of their gear.  On Wednesday, we had a building wide "READING DRILL".  We all stopped, dropped and read! It was a delight to see students throughout our whole building reading for 15 minutes all together.  I had so many students afterwards tell me they wished it was longer and ask if we could do that everyday! We love how engaged our st

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek  It was a short week for our students, but our teachers were busy learning with their peers! On Monday, we spent the day as a district learning together. Staff were given choices on sessions they would like to attend based on their desire to learn a variety of ways to engage students in learning.  Our staff came back with some great new ideas to share and ways to strengthen instruction in our classrooms.  On Tuesday, we spent the day together at Diamond Creek.   We as a staff at Diamond Creek are moving ahead with learning about the 7 Habits of Highly Successful Adults and Children.  We have renamed these habits to make them our own Diamond Creek way.  We are going to focus on the first 3 habits this school year and then will continue on with the remaining four next school year.  Hopefully you will begin to hear your students using some of our habits language!  Here are the Habits we worked on as a staff together on Tuesday.   We encourage you to

We hope you have a safe and exciting Halloween weekend!  A reminder that there is no school on Monday (10/30) and Tuesday (10/31) this week. Our staff will be busy learning with other staff around the district and at our own site. We started our first Breakfast & Books Club this week for our 2nd and 3rd graders. This was a book club offered to all students in 2nd and 3rd grade.  We are reading, The Year of Billy Miller , together.  Stay tuned for a Breakfast & Books opportunity for our 4th and 5th grade students coming up soon! This is a great time for students to dive deep into a new book and discuss the book with their peers over some yummy breakfast! In addition to our Breakfast & Books, we are doing many things around the building to engage our young readers and ignite an excitement for reading!
