Week of May 3-7

Hello Trailblazer Families, Our students this week enjoyed our last Virtual Rally of the school year! We played a fun game on Kahoot that reviewed all of the Habits and Essentials we have learned this year.  Students celebrated the Habits they feel have gone well for them and set some goals to work on with other Habits.  We have a big week coming up for our staff and students! Students are invited to participate in our Diamond Creek Spirit Days throughout the week! The schedule is linked below.  Our canned food drive is also happening this week, details are also below. AND... this week we are celebrating all of the AMAZING work of our Diamond Creek Staff.  I am truly honored and humbled to work alongside such dedicated, caring professionals who truly LOVE what they do and will do WHATEVER it takes for kids each day.  Please help me celebrate and honor the hard work of our Staff this week for Staff Appreciation week! THANK YOU Diamond Creek Staff!! I am so thankful for all of you!   - A

Hello Trailblazer Families, Exciting news for our 2nd grade students this week as a few of their caterpillars are beginning to hatch into beautiful butterflies! Some of our 1st grade students are also enjoying learning and observing the life cycle of a chick with chick eggs.  Students were able to Zoom in with a researcher in the poultry science department at North Carolina State to learn more about the cycle of the chick eggs.  Students zooming in with a researcher from North Carolina to learn about chick eggs CANNED FOOD DRIVE: May 3rd - May 7th Diamond Creek’s annual canned food drive kicks off Monday, May 3rd and we’re hoping to collect over 3000 food items in JUST 1 WEEK!!. The food bank supply gets really low in the spring and they could really use our help.  Student Leadership has come up with some theme days to make this fun! You can bring in anything on the days of the drive, but if you want a little challenge try to bring in items related to each of the days listed below. Ma

Hello Trailblazer Families, It was a great week of learning at Diamond Creek! Our 2nd grade students are enjoying their time learning about the Life Cycle with real, live caterpillars! Our 1st grade students are about to begin some new learning with the life cycle as well.  Lots of hands on and exciting learning happening in Science right now!  One of our 5th grade classrooms also had the opportunity to Zoom with a former Diamond Creek student who recently had her book published! Our 5th grade students are learning about interviews right now in ELA and were able to put their interviewing skills into action as they conducted a real, live interview with an author! Hello Trailblazer Families, We hope you had a wonderful spring break and are able to enjoy this nice spring weather!   Please read below for some important information from our PTC.  We would love to have some amazing volunteers to help us next year on our PTC board.  Please read below for more information and details.  Please make sure to read below for Yearbook information - ORDERS ARE DUE TODAY APRIL 9th!   Villages Update Students will be participating in our next Village meeting on Thursday, April 15th. We will spend time reviewing reviewing  Habit #7: Find Your Balance.  This is our final habit and one that is so important for all of us - especially during these stressful times.  The Essentials We Are Discussing Are: 1. Be the Best Person You Can Be 2. Be Positive and Enjoy Life 3. Live so You Never Have Regrets These are such important essentials for us all to remember each day!  Linked below are the 7 Habits we discuss at Diamond Creek. Over the school year, we will spend time
