Week of March 25-29

WEEKLY NEWS
Our Village Rally this week was incredible! We had students from our Tawalmoto Village leading the entire way through. They did an amazing job and showed true leadership.  We kicked off Habit #6: All in this Together and discussed the importance of team work vs. trying to do everything independently.

Statewide testing season begins this week for our students in grades 3 through 5.  Students begin our Statewide CAASPP testing in ELA and Math.  Fifth grade students also take the Science Test.  This is a way for us to measure student progress so that we can continuously plan instruction that meets their needs.  Individual classroom teachers will share their schedules with you so that your students can make sure to get extra rest and big, hearty breakfasts on those days! We appreciate your support.

Students leading our Village Rally this week

THANK YOU
I would like to thank all of our families that work so hard to make Diamond Creek such a special place.  We have volunteers who take time each day to help in our classrooms and around Diamond Creek. I also want to thank parents who volunteer their time to plan and put on special events for our students.

We are always looking for ways to improve and we appreciate your feedback.  Since we began parent/child events several years ago, fire marshall capacity has been something we have had to plan around when hosting events at Diamond Creek.  In the future, we commit to looking into alternate locations and other ways to host these events for our students and families so that all students are able to attend when possible. I welcome any questions, concerns, or feedback about our school or any of the PTC events.  Please feel free to email or call me directly. Our goal is to get better together.

Thank you again,

Angela Garcia

SAVE THE DATE - OPEN HOUSE - MAY 16th
We shared this date many months ago but want to make sure you have it saved on your calendars! It's hard to believe May is not too far away.  Our Open House will be Thursday, May 16th from 6:00-7:30.  This is a time for our students to show you all their hard work from this school year.

Bus Loop Help!
The results of our Parent Survey were reviewed by our Site Council this past week.  One area of concern continues to be our bus loop areas during drop off and pick up times.  If anyone is interested in volunteering to help with our traffic flow and safety, please email Mrs. Garcia.

As always, please remember these important steps when picking up and dropping off students. If we can all be mindful of these steps, the flow of traffic will be more efficient and safe for our students.  We have over 600 students at Diamond Creek and we want them all to be picked up and dropped off safely.   We appreciate your help.

Please Remember To:
1. Pull all the way up in the bus loop areas. - These are DROP OFF zones, they are not PARKING zones.  If you would like to park and get out of your car, please use the parking lot or street areas.  This includes our Kindergarten students.
2. Please stay off of cell phones so that we do not have distracted drivers
3.  Please drive slowly and carefully, we have students and families crossing at different areas
4. Follow the safety cone areas during the afternoon pick up time
