Week of May 21-25

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek
WOW! Our students have worked hard this year! I truly enjoyed walking through all of the classrooms at Open House last night viewing some of their work.  Thank you to our teachers for all of their hard work with our students and thank you to all of our families for walking through last night. Our students were very excited to show you their masterpieces!

We still have 13 days to go and we will continue to work hard, but also celebrate all of the learning our students have accomplished this school year.  Our 2nd grade students are gearing up for Grandparents Day coming up this Friday and our 1st grade students have been working hard on their Spring Sing songs.  We look forward to these events as well.

On Friday, our choir students performed for all of the 1st through 5th grade students. This choir is truly amazing! We wanted our students to have the chance to listen to this award winning choir.  Another huge thank you to Mrs. Dahl for all of her musical work with our students this school year.

Thank you for coming to our Open House this week!

Girls on the Run
Congratulations to all of our Girls who were on our Girls on the Run team this year. They finished the season with their 5K run last Saturday.  Every student finished and finished strong! This program not only gives our students the capacity to run in a 5K, but also helps build self-confidence and so much more in our girls.  Thank you to our parent volunteers, Mrs. Petersen and Mrs. Harney, for making this a possibility for our girls again this year.  We look forward to another Girls on the Run team next school year.

Back to School Night - Wednesday, August 8th, 2018
SAVE THE DATE - Our Back to School Night for the 2018-19 school year will be held before school starts this year on Wednesday, August 8th.  We will have more details and times coming soon. All students K-5 will have the opportunity to visit their classroom and meet their teacher.  Different this year, class lists will not be posted on the front office windows. Families will be receiving this information before Back to School Night in an email.  Teachers will also send Nuts & Bolts and other helpful information to you beforehand so that Back to School Night is more centered around meeting the teacher and beginning to build that relationship.  We are excited for this new format and hope that you find it helpful.

Summer Dress Code
As our days are getting warmer, this is just a friendly reminder to please check your child's clothing before heading off to school. We ask that shorts are not too short and that students are not wearing spaghetti strap shirts.  We want to make sure all students are dressed for minimal distractions.  Thank you for your help!

Our 5th Grade students enjoyed a wonderful welcome at Cooley for Step Up Day

Lost & Found
We have many items in our Lost & Found. We do have students look through these items during lunch each day and even put them on display on the stage during lunch.  Please take a look after school to see if any of the items belong to your child.  Thank you!

CAASPP Testing
The CAASPP Testing window for our 3rd through 5th grade students will be open from April 16th through May 25th.  Each classroom teacher has an individual schedule of when their students will be testing in Math and Reading. Our 5th grade students also have a Science portion of the test. This is our California State Test that allows us to measure growth and provide instruction for areas that are not being met as well.  Please make sure your child has a good, healthy breakfast and is getting lots of sleep throughout these testing days.  Sleep and proper nutrition are very helpful in allowing our students to show their best ability on these assessments.

Our DC choir performed for our Diamond Creek students today during an assembly.
