Week of May 14-18

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek
A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our teachers and staff that make Diamond Creek such an amazing learning environment for our students.  Our teachers truly put their heart and soul into what they do each day to make sure learning is meaningful and engaging for our students.  Thank you to our PTC for a lovely luncheon on Monday honoring our teachers and THANK YOU to all of our families for your kind gifts and treats this week. I know our staff felt very LOVED and APPRECIATED. Thank you for all of your support.

Our 4th grade students headed out on their Coloma field trip on Friday! They were eagerly awaiting to get on the bus and we will look forward to hearing more about their trip on Monday.

Make sure to SAVE THE DATE for our Open House coming up this Thursday, May 17th from 6:00-7:30 PM.  Our students have been hard at work all year and are eagerly awaiting to show you some of their masterpieces.  We will have an early dismissal on Thursday. Students will be dismissed at 2:05.

Finally, Happy Mother's Day to all of our Moms and Mother figures at Diamond Creek. We appreciate all you do each day and the support you give our students throughout their school journey.

2nd Grade students enjoying some Coding Time
Back to School Night - Wednesday, August 8th, 2018
SAVE THE DATE - Our Back to School Night for the 2018-19 school year will be held before school starts this year on Wednesday, August 8th.  We will have more details and times coming soon. All students K-5 will have the opportunity to visit their classroom and meet their teacher.  Different this year, class lists will not be posted on the front office windows. Families will be receiving this information before Back to School Night in an email.  Teachers will also send Nuts & Bolts and other helpful information to you beforehand so that Back to School Night is more centered around meeting the teacher and beginning to build that relationship.  We are excited for this new format and hope that you find it helpful.

Summer Dress Code
As our days are getting warmer, this is just a friendly reminder to please check your child's clothing before heading off to school. We ask that shorts are not too short and that students are not wearing spaghetti strap shirts.  We want to make sure all students are dressed for minimal distractions.  Thank you for your help!

Celebrating our Teachers this Week

Lost & Found
We have many items in our Lost & Found. We do have students look through these items during lunch each day and even put them on display on the stage during lunch.  Please take a look after school to see if any of the items belong to your child.  Thank you!

CONGRATULATIONS Mrs. Cook!
Congratulations to Mrs. Cook for being honored this week at Placer County's Teachers Who Make a Difference banquet.  We appreciate all you do Mrs. Cook to help our students be successful! Mrs. Cook goes above and beyond each day to make sure our students enjoy learning and are prepared for 2nd grade.  Make sure to follow her on Twitter as well to see the story of her classroom.  Congratulations Mrs. Cook!

CAASPP Testing
The CAASPP Testing window for our 3rd through 5th grade students will be open from April 16th through May 25th.  Each classroom teacher has an individual schedule of when their students will be testing in Math and Reading. Our 5th grade students also have a Science portion of the test. This is our California State Test that allows us to measure growth and provide instruction for areas that are not being met as well.  Please make sure your child has a good, healthy breakfast and is getting lots of sleep throughout these testing days.  Sleep and proper nutrition are very helpful in allowing our students to show their best ability on these assessments.
