Week of October 30-November 3
Updates from our week at Diamond Creek
We had many fun fall celebrations happening at Diamond Creek this week! The students are excited about pumpkins, costumes and candy! We hope you have a safe and exciting Halloween weekend! A reminder that there is no school on Monday (10/30) and Tuesday (10/31) this week. Our staff will be busy learning with other staff around the district and at our own site.
We started our first Breakfast & Books Club this week for our 2nd and 3rd graders. This was a book club offered to all students in 2nd and 3rd grade. We are reading, The Year of Billy Miller, together. Stay tuned for a Breakfast & Books opportunity for our 4th and 5th grade students coming up soon! This is a great time for students to dive deep into a new book and discuss the book with their peers over some yummy breakfast!
In addition to our Breakfast & Books, we are doing many things around the building to engage our young readers and ignite an excitement for reading! You will notice that all of our staff members have a special poster in their classrooms or doorways which show what books they are reading right now. We are excited to share with our students what we are reading and the excitement we have about our own reading. New books are also being passed among our staff as staff are "Booking Each other" by secretly passing on books to one another. Instead of being "Booed" with Halloween type goodies, our staff are being "Booked" with new books to share with their classrooms. We encourage you as parents to spend time reading with your child each night either reading aloud with them or listening to them read. Even our older readers benefit from a great read aloud or discussing a text together as a family.
Finally, make sure to check out Student News for other highlights happening at Diamond Creek. I also attached a video that some of our students created using the APP Stop Motion. The students I am working with during our RtI time are using StopMotion and Legos to produce videos. Their creativity and collaboration amazes me!

Walk-a-Thon
Congratulations to our Diamond Creek Community! The totals are in and we raised over $29,000 from our Walk-a-Thon this year! Thank you to all of our families for helping us work together to meet our fundraising goal. The money from our WAT will be used to purchase technology in our classrooms. THANK YOU!!
Lost & Found
It's that time of year again! Our Lost & Found is beginning to fill up! We lay out all items during lunch time and try to show each group of students. Please ask your child to continue checking our lost and found for any items you may be missing and writing your child's name in jackets and sweatshirts is very helpful! We will be donating any left items before the week of Thanksgiving break. Anything not claimed by the end of the day on Friday, November 17th will be donated.
