Week of November 13-17

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek
Our Site Council met this week and our school representatives shared our work so far of teaching habits to our students. I am attaching the PDF version of posters you will see in our classrooms with common language that we are using across Diamond Creek.  There are two documents of Habit #1, we are using the one with less wording in our classrooms but feel free to use this common language.  We encourage you to use in your home as well!  The Habits are again listed below.

Habits Documents (Habit 1-3)

Habit #1: I'm in Charge of Me
*I choose my actions & attitudes
*I do the right thing without being asked
*I do not blame others for my wrong actions

Habit #2: Know Before You Do It
*I have a plan
* I plan ahead and set goals
*I am an important part of my class
* My work is important

Habit #3: Make Priorities Matter
*I work first --then play
* I spent my time on the most important things
*I say no to things I know I should not do
*I make a plan and follow it

Please enjoy the extra day this weekend with your children! They have been working very hard this trimester and have learned so much already this school year.  We have readers, writers, and math wizards all over Diamond Creek! We have had nightly visitors at Diamond Creek as well as on the weekends which has caused some damage to areas on our roof. If you are driving by Diamond Creek during non school hours and see suspicious activity we encourage you to call the police.  Thank you for your help keeping Diamond Creek safe.

Our 3rd through 5th grade students are part of our BYOD classrooms at Diamond Creek.  If you are looking for a great holiday gift for your child, please click on the links below to learn about pricing available to our parents in Roseville City Schools.

BYOD Parent Purchasing Program

Beginning this week, the Roseville City School District Foundation is raising funds through #RosevilleRocks, a crowdsourcing campaign to help expand our District’s new music education program.  You may recall a similar effort last year, which resulted in raising more than $10,000 for the music education program.  The Foundation’s goal this year is to raise $15,000 prior to Thanksgiving!!!  If every family donated just $5 per child, they would more than meet their goal.
I encourage you to take five minutes, donate $5 and enrich the life of a child through music education.

Please, visit the#RosevilleRocks link to donate today.. and don’t forget to share with your friends and family on social media!

The Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization whose mission is to enhance, expand, and enrich the education of each child in the District. Please click here to see our students and teachers engaged in RCSD music program.

Our second iReady Diagnostic window opened on Thursday (10/26) of this week for all of our students in Grades 2-5.  Students will be taking this diagnostic at times scheduled by their teacher.  Students take the diagnostic in both Reading and Math.  We use iReady data to determine intervention needs and to track student progress.

Lost & Found
It's that time of year again! Our Lost & Found is beginning to fill up! We lay out all items during lunch time and try to show each group of students. Please ask your child to continue checking our lost and found for any items you may be missing and writing your child's name in jackets and sweatshirts is very helpful! We will be donating any left items before the week of Thanksgiving break. Anything not claimed by the end of the day on Friday, November 17th will be donated.
