Week of December 4-8
Updates from our week at Diamond Creek
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break last week and enjoyed time with family and friends. I was excited on Monday to greet our students and welcome them back this week! We had some exciting learning happening all around Diamond Creek this week. I am always amazed when walking through classrooms to see the progress our students have made since the beginning of the school year. They are working hard each day!
This week our 4th & 5th grade students were organized into villages at our kick off assembly. The kids seemed to love the assembly and kick-off assembly! The 8 villages are organized by colors and students will be picking village names and creating banners to represent their village. Each village is comprised of a teacher along with 4th and 5th grade students. Villages will be meeting every 3-4 weeks to discuss effective habit skills. This month the focus will be on how to show appreciation and gratitude. Our village will be a great way for students to build strong relationships across grade levels, mentor each other and get to know other teachers on campus. We look forward to the team building that comes with our villages.
We had three WATCH D.O.G.S. this week which was also a highlight from our week! Thank you to all of our Dads who have helped us each day! It's amazing to see our students connecting with father figures, playing with them at recess and receiving support in our classrooms. Our Dads are such a great presence on our campus. Thank you!
Our 4th and 5th grade students also began Breakfast & Books this week with the book Wonder. We are having fun reading this together as a book club. Our 2nd and 3rd grade students finished their book club with, The Year of Billy Miller, right before break. We are enjoying our time reading, discussing and eating breakfast together.
