Week of January 18-22

Hello Trailblazer Families, 

We hope you have a nice three day weekend with your families.  A reminder that there is no school on Monday, January 18th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. 

When you are picking up and dropping off students, please remember to be wearing a mask while on Diamond Creek Campus.  Our goal is to keep our students in school and keep all of our students and staff healthy.  Thank you for your help and support. 

We had a Village Meeting on Thursday, January 14th. Our students continued learning and reviewing Habit #4: I am Mindful of Others. The essentials we are focusing on right now are being mindful of body language and tone of voice as well as responding to others respectfully. Students watched a video in which they had to make note of positive and negative body language. We talked about how our stance, our arms, and the way we move our body can send a negative or positive message to others.  Our goal is to practice our body language and tone of voice when we are communicating with our peers, other adults and at home.

Meal Duty Opportunity
We are looking for one more meal duty to help us with our nutrition break supervision on campus. This is a one hour position from 10:00-11:00 each day.  Our meal duties help us supervise our break times to keep students healthy and safe.  Please email Mrs. Garcia if you would like more details or are interested in the position. 

Pennies for Patients - Hero Squad
Diamond Creek once again will be participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Hero Squad Program, which is a service-learning program that helps raise critical funds for blood cancer patients.  This year we will be participating all virtually of course! Students will have a class page that will be shared by the classroom teacher.  Students may use this class page to donate their pennies and change. Classroom teachers will have a virtual assembly kick off for our Hero Squad program next week in class.  Thank you for your support.

Parent/Teacher Conference Week - February 22-26, 2021 
Our parent/teacher conferences will be happening this year during the week of February 22-26. Your child's classroom teacher will be reaching out to you to schedule these during that week. All conferences will occur via Zoom.  This is an excellent time for you to meet with your child's teacher to hear progress, updates and to discuss their learning journey with the teacher.  During this week, students are dismissed earlier.  Please review the schedule HERE for our schedule that week.

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek  Thank you to all of our parents for taking time to meet with your child's teacher this week.  Our teachers appreciate this face to face meeting time with you.  We are all a team working together to help each child at Diamond Creek be successful and your support is such an important piece of the puzzle.  Thank you for your time and support! On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have our local Fire Department visit us and lead us through a fire safety assembly.  The students learned what to do in the case of a fire and were able to see the transformation that happens when our firefighters put on all of their gear.  On Wednesday, we had a building wide "READING DRILL".  We all stopped, dropped and read! It was a delight to see students throughout our whole building reading for 15 minutes all together.  I had so many students afterwards tell me they wished it was longer and ask if we could do that everyday! Week of September 12-16, 2022

  9/9/2022   Happy Friday Trailblazer families,   We completed our LEAD Passport adventure today.  Your children have now traveled to all 7 of our common areas to learn what it looks like to be great Listeners, be Empathetic, be Accountable and how to be Disciplined. Due to the smoke, we had them meet in their Village Meeting Spot and the presenters traveled to the students.
