Week of January 11-15

Hello Trailblazer Families, 

We hope you had a relaxing break with your families and new memories were made together!  Students jumped right back into learning this week on site and in our Champions Academy. It was great to see their smiles under those masks on campus.  They had lots to share and seemed excited to be back at school.

An email was sent on Monday which explains our iReady diagnostic that all students K-5 are taking over the next few weeks. This is a diagnostic assessment that is taken three times throughout the year. Teachers use this data to measure progress, assign intervention and extension for students and determine which areas in ELA and Math are strengths and areas of need.  Please ask your classroom teacher for more specific dates and classroom information related to iReady.  Students are working on this assessment sometime between January 5th through January 29th. 

We have a Village Meeting coming up this week on Thursday, January 14th. Our students will continue learning and reviewing Habit #4: I am Mindful of Others. The essentials we are focusing on right now are being mindful of body language and tone of voice as well as responding to others respectfully.  We are talking about how our body language, eye contact, and tone of voice play a role in how others perceive us and our responses.

Parent/Teacher Conference Week - February 22-26, 2021 
Our parent/teacher conferences will be happening this year during the week of February 22-26. Your child's classroom teacher will be reaching out to you to schedule these during that week. All conferences will occur via Zoom.  This is an excellent time for you to meet with your child's teacher to hear progress, updates and to discuss their learning journey with the teacher.  During this week, students are dismissed earlier.  Please review the schedule HERE for our schedule that week.

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek  Thank you to all of our parents for taking time to meet with your child's teacher this week.  Our teachers appreciate this face to face meeting time with you.  We are all a team working together to help each child at Diamond Creek be successful and your support is such an important piece of the puzzle.  Thank you for your time and support! On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have our local Fire Department visit us and lead us through a fire safety assembly.  The students learned what to do in the case of a fire and were able to see the transformation that happens when our firefighters put on all of their gear.  On Wednesday, we had a building wide "READING DRILL".  We all stopped, dropped and read! It was a delight to see students throughout our whole building reading for 15 minutes all together.  I had so many students afterwards tell me they wished it was longer and ask if we could do that everyday! Week of September 12-16, 2022

  9/9/2022   Happy Friday Trailblazer families,   We completed our LEAD Passport adventure today.  Your children have now traveled to all 7 of our common areas to learn what it looks like to be great Listeners, be Empathetic, be Accountable and how to be Disciplined. Due to the smoke, we had them meet in their Village Meeting Spot and the presenters traveled to the students.
