Week of November 30- December 4

 Hello Trailblazer Families,

We hope you and your families have a nice break and a Happy Thanksgiving. We know breaks and holidays are different this year, but we wish you all the happiness in the small moments. Thank you for all of your support throughout the last few weeks as we brought students back on to campus. We appreciate you keeping students home when they are ill and helping us stay in school. Enjoy the break!

After break, we will have our next Village Meeting on Thursday, December 3rd. Our students will continue to review Habit #3: Make Priorities Matter and do some fun activities within their own classrooms. Congratulations to our Makkiti Village who earned lunch with me this week from being our top October Dojo winner! Students earn dojo points by modeling our habits and essentials. It was so great to see our Makkiti students and it was such a fun way for me to be able to see our Champions students as well!

Linked below are the 7 Habits we discuss at Diamond Creek. Over the school year, we will spend time each month reviewing one of the 7 Habits along with the essentials that align with each Habit.

Feel free to print and use these posters at home as well.

Free/Reduced Lunch Applications:

Hello RCSD Families,

Free and Reduced Meal Applications are more important than you might think.

The Free and Reduced Meal program typically provides assistance to those who qualify, and even though meals are free for all students for this school year, we are asking you to please take a moment and fill out a Free and Reduced Meal application online at ezmealapp.com. The application is due by December 15, 2020.

The number of students that qualify for the Free and Reduced Meal program impacts many services and programs that RCSD offers families.

Our students and schools are at risk of losing 23% of the supplemental grant funding that supports those programs due to the lack of applications submitted to date.

The supplemental grant supports:

  • Mental & Health Services - help fund school counselors and health aides.
  • Class size reduction - help fund smaller class sizes in Transitional Kindergarten and 4-5 grades.
  • Foster youth and homeless services - help fund resources for both foster youth students and students experiencing homelessness.
  • Music & Elementary PE - funds a portion of the teachers’ salaries for these programs.
  • AVID and IB programs - help to fund school sites that have AVID and IB programs.
  • Technology - help to ensure students and staff have internet connectivity.
  • Intervention Services - help fund staffing for intervention teachers and other intervention support providers.
  • World Language Program - help fund world language teachers at all four of our middle schools.
Please view the attached file for more information. If you have any questions, please contact your school site or you can visit our Nutrition Services website at rcsdk8.org/nutrition-services for assistance.

Thank you,

The Roseville City School District

Arrival/Dismissal Reminders:
Thank you for helping keep our students safe! Please remember to follow these safety procedures when entering and exiting campus.

1. Drivers please drive slowly through our neighborhoods and bus loops
2. Pull all the way up when moving through the loop, this helps us get more cars in the loop
3. The bus loops are not parking lots. If you would like to park and get out of your car, please use our lots or street parking to do so.
4. Please walk bikes and scooters on campus
5. We are asking that all cars in the morning go through our bus loops and not enter the parking lot next to the park in the same area as cars are exiting. This is creating a back up in our loops and also traffic coming from all areas and not safe for our walkers and bikers.
