Week of November 16-20

Hello Trailblazer Families,

We hope you and your families had a great week! Students on site were settling into their on site routines this week and working hard with their learning!

Our students continue to do an incredible job following our procedures, wearing masks, and interacting with each other in a safe way. We appreciate all of your support keeping your students home if they do not feel well. This helps us keep as many students as possible on site and learning in our classrooms. Thank you for your help!

We had a Village Rally this week in our classrooms. We reviewed Habit #3: Making Priorities Matter. In our rally we did our school chant, listened to a story and had some great class discussion. We discussed our strength areas as individuals, areas we can improve and how to focus on putting our best effort forward the first time. Our goal for our DC students over the next few weeks is to think about one thing they can do better at and focus their attention on improving in that area. We are all working on choosing areas to be better and do better!

Linked below are the 7 Habits we discuss at Diamond Creek. Over the school year, we will spend time each month reviewing one of the 7 Habits along with the essentials that align with each Habit.

Feel free to print and use these posters at home as well.

Free/Reduced Lunch Applications:

Hello RCSD Families,

Free and Reduced Meal Applications are more important than you might think.

The Free and Reduced Meal program typically provides assistance to those who qualify, and even though meals are free for all students for this school year, we are asking you to please take a moment and fill out a Free and Reduced Meal application online at ezmealapp.com. The application is due by December 15, 2020.

The number of students that qualify for the Free and Reduced Meal program impacts many services and programs that RCSD offers families.

Our students and schools are at risk of losing 23% of the supplemental grant funding that supports those programs due to the lack of applications submitted to date.

The supplemental grant supports:

  • Mental & Health Services - help fund school counselors and health aides.
  • Class size reduction - help fund smaller class sizes in Transitional Kindergarten and 4-5 grades.
  • Foster youth and homeless services - help fund resources for both foster youth students and students experiencing homelessness.
  • Music & Elementary PE - funds a portion of the teachers’ salaries for these programs.
  • AVID and IB programs - help to fund school sites that have AVID and IB programs.
  • Technology - help to ensure students and staff have internet connectivity.
  • Intervention Services - help fund staffing for intervention teachers and other intervention support providers.
  • World Language Program - help fund world language teachers at all four of our middle schools.
Please view the attached file for more information. If you have any questions, please contact your school site or you can visit our Nutrition Services website at rcsdk8.org/nutrition-services for assistance.

Thank you,

The Roseville City School District

Arrival/Dismissal Reminders:
Thank you for helping keep our students safe! Please remember to follow these safety procedures when entering and exiting campus.

1. Drivers please drive slowly through our neighborhoods and bus loops
2. Pull all the way up when moving through the loop, this helps us get more cars in the loop
3. The bus loops are not parking lots. If you would like to park and get out of your car, please use our lots or street parking to do so.
4. Please walk bikes and scooters on campus
5. We are asking that all cars in the morning go through our bus loops and not enter the parking lot next to the park in the same area as cars are exiting. This is creating a back up in our loops and also traffic coming from all areas and not safe for our walkers and bikers.

This is a one hour position from 11:30-12:30 each day.  Our meal duties help us supervise our break times to keep students healthy and safe.  Please email Mrs. Garcia if you would like more details or are interested in the position.
