Week of November 18-22

WEEKLY NEWS
Students across Diamond Creek have been working on their "small moment" stories as part of the Narrative writing unit in our new Lucy Calkins writing curriculum.  Over the last few weeks, it's been fun to see common language, anchor charts and instruction happening K-5 with increasing difficulty.

We had a Village Rally on Thursday that was led by our Tawalihape Village.  We reviewed Habit #2: Know Before You Do.  We discussed goal setting and making a plan on how to achieve that goal.  If there are mistakes or set backs along the way, it's ok! We relook at the plan and continue moving forward towards our goals.

Garcia Family News
The Garcia family is excited to share that we are expecting "Baby G", as Riley and Rocco call him/her in early May.  The Diamond Creek staff found out this news last week and we wanted to share with our Diamond Creek community as well.

Crossing Guards
Please be mindful and extra careful while driving through our community and neighborhoods during drop off and dismissal times.  We have many students who walk and bike home.  This week we had cars driving through our cross walks while the crossing guard was helping students and adults cross the walkway.  The safety of our students and families is our number one priority.  Please be careful while driving, slow down, and stay off of cell phones.

WATCH D.O.G.S. DAYS!
WATCH D.O.G.S. is a Father Figure involvement program that is offered to schools around the Nation. We are so happy to have this wonderful program at Diamond Creek.  Our WATCH D.O.G.S. are invited to spend a day with our students and staff at Diamond Creek helping in classrooms, at recess, lunch and around the building.  We will always make sure your schedule has time in your child(ren) classrooms as well as other classrooms around the building.  If you have more questions about this wonderful program, please email Mrs. Garcia.  If you are interested in volunteering to be a WATCH D.O.G. please fill out this form with your available date.
