Week of May 1-5
What's Coming Up This Week? May 1-5
Some of our 3rd-5th graders began their CAASPP testing this week. It was a great first week of testing. While I was in classrooms, students were taking their time, quiet and doing their best! Thank you for making sure they have enough sleep, a healthy breakfast and some extra snacks! We appreciate your support during this testing time frame. Our Spring Fundraiser is quickly approaching this Saturday, May 6th. If you haven't bought tickets, we still have some available to buy on our PTC website, after school or in our front office. All proceeds will go directly back into the classrooms of our students. We appreciate all of your support. Make sure to check out the Silent Auction online as well which closes Sunday at 10:00 PM. There are so many great adventures, art work, and activities to bid on for the family. Finally, check out our Student News from this week for some great announcements from our Student Council.
I loved seeing so many of you at our Run for Roseville on Sunday as well. Congratulations to all of our Diamond Creek runners!

Student Safety
One of our students this week was approached by a middle-aged, brown-haired female driving a white Honda. The female driver asked our student if she could bring the student to school to help with the boxes the student was carrying. This student had a safe word that had been set up with the family. When the driver did not have the safe word, the student continued walking. When the student walked away, the female driver did not make any further attempts to pick up the student. I wanted to send this as a reminder to please talk to your students about safety, have a family safe word that they should use when being picked up by anyone other than a parent. Thank you for your help keeping our students safe.

Our Spring Fundraiser is coming up Saturday, May 6th from 5:00-9:00 PM at Elks Lodge. Please come out, have some fun, and support the learning environment of our students. This is an adult only event. Tickets can be purchased after school, at our front office, or on the PTC website. We hope to see you there!

CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to two of our teachers who have recently been recognized for their outstanding dedication and hard work with our students. Mrs. Dell'Orto, 1st grade teacher, was recognized last week at our Seeds of Literacy dinner which is hosted by Placer Area Reading Council. Mrs. Dell'Orto was recognized for the love of reading she instills in our students through read alouds, Reading Workshop, and special reading opportunities. It is an honor to have Mrs. Dell'Orto at Diamond Creek!
Second, Congratulations to Mrs. Morse, 5th grade teacher, who will be recognized on May 1st through Placer County's "Teachers Who Make a Difference". Mrs. Morse is being recognized for her dedication to learning for herself and her students. She spends hours creating hands on, meaningful, learning experiences for her students. We are thrilled to have Mrs. Morse with us at Diamond Creek!
