Week of April 24-28

What's Coming Up This Week? April 24-28
I hope all of our Diamond Creek families had a wonderful Spring Break! It was great to have the students back in our classrooms this week.  This week begins our CAASPP testing for all of our 3rd through 5th grade students.  Students will take a test in ELA and Math throughout the next four weeks. Our 5th grade students will also take a Science test.  Students are not testing all day, every day, but we have broken the assessments into 60-90 minute sessions per day.  Please make sure your child has a healthy breakfast, gets lots of sleep and is ready to give their best on each of these testing days.  We work hard to make sure our testing environment is quiet, safe, and nurturing for all of our students.   Thank you for your support at home as well.

CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to two of our teachers who have recently been recognized for their outstanding dedication and hard work with our students.  Mrs. Dell'Orto, 1st grade teacher, was recognized last evening at our Seeds of Literacy dinner which is hosted by Placer Area Reading Council.  Mrs. Dell'Orto was recognized for the love of reading she instills in our students through read alouds, Reading Workshop, and special reading opportunities.  It is an honor to have Mrs. Dell'Orto at Diamond Creek!

Second, Congratulations to Mrs. Morse, 5th grade teacher, who will be recognized on May 1st through Placer County's "Teachers Who Make a Difference".  Mrs. Morse is being recognized for her dedication to learning for herself and her students.  She spends hours creating hands on, meaningful, learning experiences for her students.  We are thrilled to have Mrs. Morse with us at Diamond Creek!

WATCH D.O.G.S.
During the 2017-18 school year, Diamond Creek will be implementing a program called WATCH D.O.G.S.  This program is intended to bring our fathers and grandfathers into our classrooms to support education and safety.  Please check out the website linked below for more information.  We are looking for one of our fathers to be our "Top DOG" to help us organize this great program.  Please email Ms. Turry if you are interested in being the Top Dog.
