Week of November 14-18, 2022

 Happy Friday Trailblazer families,

We are ten days into November and I am mindful of so many things to be thankful for this month, especially the students, staff, and families of Diamond Creek!  As we head into Conference Week next week (see schedule below), we look forward to celebrating the progress our students have made academically, behaviorally, and emotionally this first trimester.  Report cards will be emailed this afternoon.  Here is the link for the RCSD Elementary Parent Guides that was sent by the District a few weeks ago.  I hope that you find this guide helpful as you navigate through your child’s report card.

FENCE UPDATE

Here is the latest update on our Fence Project on our Upper Grade Playground from District Maintenance and Facilities. We are currently awaiting our custom gate to be completed and powder-coated.  Once this is complete the final piece of our fence will be put in place.  The extra time for this process was not initially anticipated and I appreciate your continued patience and flexibility with drop off and pick up.  As soon as the project is completed, we will open up this campus access point once again.

JOB FAIR NEXT WEDNESDAY

Good afternoon Diamond Creek community!

We want to make you aware of and encourage you to come and check out some fantastic opportunities we have at Roseville City School District to serve in multiple ways for our students.

RCSD is a fantastic place to work, and we are looking for individuals to serve as Instructional Assistants in our classrooms, Food Services employees in our kitchens, and Custodians on our school sites. These positions are flexible, rewarding, and play a key role in supporting our students!

We will be holding a Job Fair on Wednesday, November 16, from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at the District Office, located at 1050 Main Street, Roseville.

Our team will give job specific presentations, as scheduled below, to provide information about the different jobs, locations, hiring process, and even assist you with completing an application that night. You are welcome to come to one or all of the informational sessions.

PBIS UPDATE

I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you one of our next steps with our PBIS journey at Diamond Creek.  At the beginning of the year I shared that PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Support and we rolled out our school wide expectations with our Passports

at our Village Meetings.  Our students have been earning DOJO points for their individual Villages and as an entire school community.  Last week, each Village reached the 500 DOJO point mark and the students got their own Trailblazer LEAD stickers designed by one of our very own students.  Our students are given the opportunity to have a voice in what they would like to earn next with their DOJO points.  As a school, the students have earned a free recess and new playground equipment.

As students are learning and growing we do have some teachable moments where these school wide expectations may need to be retaught and reinforced.  One way we plan to document this reteaching is by completing Office Discipline Referrals, otherwise known as ODRs.  The ODR is a means of communication between teachers, families, and administrators.  They also are a way for us to collect data where school wide expectations may need to be revisited and provide additional support and reteaching.

There are two different levels to an ODR, Minor and Major.  Minor ODRs are typically behaviors that are handled by your child’s classroom teacher or another support staff member.  Major ODRs document behaviors that an administrator is called to provide additional support.  Click HERE to see Diamond Creek’s ODR and definitions of Major versus Minor behaviors.

If you happen to see a pink part of the ODR come home with your child, please know that this is just a form to communicate that extra reteaching and support was provided to your child that day.  This should be accompanied by either an email or phone communication from your child’s teacher and/or school administrator.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding our new ODR documentation, feel free to reach out to either your child’s teacher or myself and we would be happy to explain how these will continue to support our success with PBIS implementation.  We appreciate our continued partnership supporting our Trailblazers as they grow as LEADers everyday!  Our students truly are learning to be attentive Listeners, they are Empathetic, amazingly Accountable, and Disciplined in all they do!  It brings me great joy to spend my days with them!
