Week of February 15-19

Hello Trailblazer Families,

We hope you all had a great week! Congratulations to all of our Diamond Creek students for all of their hard work and support of our Pennies for Patients Drive. We had to send another update as when it was all completed this week, we beat our own Diamond Creek record with raising $12,136 for Pennies for Patients. We are so proud of our students and we thank you for all of your support.

A reminder there is no school on Monday, February 15th in honor of President's Day.  Enjoy the long weekend!

On January 29th, RCSD sent out THIS communication to all families.  At Diamond Creek, we have taken all measures in our classrooms to follow the updated guidelines we received from the state.  A reminder that as of February 1st we are following the updated mask guidelines, which state,

"Effective February 1, 2021, new face covering requirements (p.16) state, “Students in all grade levels are required to wear face coverings at all times, while at school, unless exempted...Persons exempted from wearing a face covering due to a medical condition, as confirmed by school district health team and therapists, must wear a non-restrictive alternative, such as a face shield with a drape on the bottom edge, as long as their condition permits it.”

If your child chooses to wear a face shield, the shield must also have a drape.  We can provide you one in our front office if you are in need of a face shield with a drape for your child.

Villages Update

This week, students participated in our virtual Village Meeting. Students discussed Habit #5: Listen and Learn and played a few listening games.  Our goal moving forward is for us to continue working on responding to people when they ask us questions and even asking them a question back! We are also working on showing others empathy and discussed what that looks and sounds like.

Linked below are the 7 Habits we discuss at Diamond Creek. Over the school year, we will spend time each month reviewing one of the 7 Habits along with the essentials that align with each Habit.

Feel free to print and use these posters at home as well.

Parent/Teacher Conference Week - February 22-26, 2021
Our parent/teacher conferences will be happening this year during the week of February 22-26. Your child's classroom teacher will be reaching out to you to schedule these during that week. All conferences will occur via Zoom.  This is an excellent time for you to meet with your child's teacher to hear progress, updates and to discuss their learning journey with the teacher.  During this week, students are dismissed earlier.  Please review the schedule HERE for our schedule that week.  During conference week, teachers in grades 1-5 will be assigning an extra 45-55 minutes of work for students to complete through OTUS.  It is important that students are completing this work.
