Week of December 14-18

Hello Trailblazer Families,

Thank you for all of your continued support as we work hard to keep our students safe and healthy! We love having our students back on campus. The last few weeks I have enjoyed spending time with our students both on site and in Champions through a Snacks & Stories book club via Zoom. We will kick off another book club in February/March so stay tuned for that as well!

Please read below for important information regarding our Free/Reduced Meal program and funding. We need your help by filling out the form linked below which helps support many programs that highly impact kids in RCSD. Thank you for your help and support.

Linked below are the 7 Habits we discuss at Diamond Creek. Over the school year, we will spend time each month reviewing one of the 7 Habits along with the essentials that align with each Habit.

Feel free to print and use these posters at home as well.

Hello RCSD Families,

The Annual Household Eligibility Form (or Free and Reduced Meal program) is more important than you might think.

The Free Meal Program typically provides assistance to those who qualify, and even though meals are free for all students for this school year, we are asking you to please take a moment and fill out Annual Household Eligibility Form online at https://www.rcsdk8.org/annual-household-eligibility-form. The application is due by December 15, 2020.

By taking time to fill out this form, it allows our District to potentially capture funds lost by the lack of forms filled out to date. If you have already completed a Meal Application for the 2020-2021 school year, please also complete this form.

The number of students that qualify for the Free and Reduced Meal program impacts many services and programs that RCSD offers families.

Our students and schools are at risk of losing 23% of the supplemental grant funding that supports those programs due to the lack of applications submitted to date.

This 1-minute video explains more about the form and the funding that goes along with this form.

The supplemental grant supports:

  • Mental & Health Services - help fund school counselors and health aides.

  • Class size reduction - help fund smaller class sizes in Transitional Kindergarten and 4-5 grades.

  • Foster youth and homeless services - help fund resources for both foster youth students and students experiencing homelessness.

  • Music & Elementary PE - funds a portion of the teachers’ salaries for these programs.

  • AVID and IB programs - help to fund school sites that have AVID and IB programs.

  • Technology - help to ensure students and staff have internet connectivity.

  • Intervention Services - help fund staffing for intervention teachers and other intervention support providers.

  • World Language Program - help fund world language teachers at all four of our middle schools.

We appreciate your time and continued support.

Thank you,

The Roseville City School District

Toy Drive - Through DECEMBER 16th!!
Diamond Creek Elementary will be joining forces with the Roseville Police Department  to hold a toy drive December 2nd-16th.  Please send in NEW, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages 5-16 to help out those less fortunate in Roseville this holiday season (all donations go to families in Roseville). You can also donate gift cards (ex: Big Spoon, Taco Bell, Red Robin, Chipotle) for the older kids. There will be receptacles by each entrance gate to place toy donations in, and gift cards should be given to the teachers.  We have been helping out the Roseville Police Department for over 15 years with this Toy Drive and know this has been a difficult year for many and truly appreciate any support you can provide.

Thanks for your support. You are making a difference!
