Week of February 12-16

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek
It was another busy week of learning at Diamond Creek!

Please be looking for Movie Night flyers to be coming home with your students. We have some great movies picked out for our students and those will be coming up at the end of February and March.  Our 4th and 5th grade movie even aligns with our Breakfast & Books book that we read together!

February is also I Love to Read Month! Our students are excited about books and finding many ways to share about what they are reading and recommending books to their peers.  I enjoyed reading to a few classrooms this week and will continue reading to classrooms throughout February! The book I am reading to students is extra special to me as the author is my dear friend that I taught with back in Minnesota! It's been fun to share her writing with our students.

A reminder there is No School this Monday, February 12th or the following Monday, February 19th in observance of Lincoln's Birthday and President's Day.

Students News - New this WEEK!!

LOVE THE LIBRARY!
Here’s your chance to grow the Diamond Creek Library!

Donate a book to the library for $20.
Write a personalized dedication to be placed inside the book.
Let your child select the book to be dedicated and be the first person to check out the book (in May).
100% of the proceeds go to the purchase of these library-bound books. One student from grades TK-2 and 3-5 will be selected at random to win $10 in Scholastic books, and 10 students will be randomly selected to win a poster. The top two classes will receive $50 to purchase Scholastic Books for their classroom

Flyers were sent home with your child on Friday, February 2nd. Return completed forms and money (checks preferred, made out to Diamond Creek PTC) to the school by Friday, February 23rd.

Local Control Accountability Plan
The Roseville City School District is looking for interested parents to serve on the Local Control Accountability PlanCommittee. The committee is comprised of representatives from across the district to collaborate to provide feedback to the Board of Education about the draft of the LCAP by May.

Under Local Control Funding Formula, the responsibility for determining the use of state funds now resides with the school district's local governing board. Districts must develop and locally approve a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) on or before July 1 of each year. Through the development of the LCAP, districts are expected to develop annual goals for the state priorities and for any local priorities identified.

Please see that attached letter and form to apply for the committee. Thank you for your time.
