Week of January 29 - February 2
Updates from our week at Diamond Creek
On Monday we kicked off Pennies for Patients! Our students participated in an assembly together and learned more about Leukemia and how we can support students our age who are fighting cancer. Our goal at Diamond Creek is to raise $10,000 to be donated to the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society.
THANK YOU to all of our Dads and Father Figures who joined us on Tuesday morning for our Donuts with Dads event. We had a great crowd and have even more dads and father figures signed up to a be a WATCH D.O.G. Read the information below under WATCH D.O.G.S. if you missed the event and would like to sign up for a day!
Also a huge THANK YOU to our families who came out to Chic-Fil-A on Tuesday evening. Our teachers did an amazing job of working, greeting families and pouring sodas. We thank you for all of your support.
As I walked around classrooms this week I was able to see all of the great learning your students are completing each day. Lots of reading, 40 book challenges and some great poetry writing in 5th grade. I especially enjoyed reading some of our students' argumentative poems.

Please remember when picking up or dropping off your child(ren):
1. The kindergarten loop and large bus loop are drop off areas only. This is not an area to park or get out of your car. Please pull all the way up in the loop to allow cars behind you to continue pulling in. This helps with the overall flow of our traffic. If you need to park or get out of your car, please use the parking spaces or street parking.
2. Please stay off your cell phone and turn music down so that you can be fully aware of your surroundings.
3. Please pay attention to our areas with cones as they are meant to be pathways for cars to travel to keep our students safe.
4. Use our crosswalk areas. Do not cross through the bus loops as cars are moving in and out of the area.
4. Drive slowly through all areas and streets surrounding the school. Students are walking and biking to and from school.
Student safety is our #1 concern. When drivers are not paying attention and following our safe routes, our students, staff and family members are put into danger. Thank you for your support and help in keeping our students safe each day.

Local Control Accountability Plan
The Roseville City School District is looking for interested parents to serve on the Local Control Accountability PlanCommittee. The committee is comprised of representatives from across the district to collaborate to provide feedback to the Board of Education about the draft of the LCAP by May.
Under Local Control Funding Formula, the responsibility for determining the use of state funds now resides with the school district's local governing board. Districts must develop and locally approve a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) on or before July 1 of each year. Through the development of the LCAP, districts are expected to develop annual goals for the state priorities and for any local priorities identified.
Please see that attached letter and form to apply for the committee. Thank you for your time.
Spring Fundraiser
Our Spring Fundraising Event will take place on Saturday April 21, 2018. We are still in need of committee members! Our first meeting was January 10th but we could still use your help! This is our LAST big fundraiser for the school year. We need a lot of help planning the event and collecting donations.
On our PTC website is an area you will find our sponsorship letter, if you know of any businesses that can donate to our event, please give them the form. Thank you in advance for all your support. Please feel free to contact us for any questions.
