Happy New Year!  2023 is here, how can this be?  Time continues to fly here at Diamond Creek!  I hope that this message finds you happy and healthy as we enter the second half of our school year!  It was wonderful to welcome back the students, staff, and families onto our campus this week.  

 

WINTER WEATHER AND PARKING LOT REMINDERS

With the return of our wet weather comes an increase to the number of cars at drop off and pick up.  Just a friendly reminder that the flow of traffic will improve when we utilize all of the space in the Bus Loop.  Please pull all the way forward to the end of the loop and refrain from stopping in the middle.  This makes a huge difference in the amount of cars we can have dropping off at a time.  

Also, please make sure to use all crosswalks and sidewalks around our campus.  We have noticed an increase of families crossing with their children in the middle of the street and the Bus Loop.  Student safety is our number one priority and we appreciate everyone’s efforts to walk and drive safely during drop off and pick up.  

 

ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCES

Hopefully we are making our way past the cold and flu season.  If your student is absent due to illness, medical appt, vacation, or other reasons, please contact the office to verify the absence. Your student's absence can be verified by calling the Attendance Hotline at 916-771-1760, press 1. Absences need to be verified daily or your student may be truant. Remember if you are planning a trip that is 3 or more days, you can apply for an Independent Study Contract which will keep your child up to date on the classwork that is missed and give your student credit for those missed days at school. Contact the office if you have any questions as we are always able to assist!

 

SAMI’s CIRCUIT IS HERE


Our District has purchased a subscription for Sami’s Circuit on Demand for the rest of the school year.  These weekly 20 minute lessons focus on Social Emotional Learning and Physical Movement.  Sami also hosts Virtual Family Nights where you can move with Sami from the comfort of your home.  The next one will be on February 8th from 6:00-7:00 pm.  Here is the LINK for the LiveFeed.

SAFE ROUTES

We are still doing Safe Routes in the new year - If your student would like to participate in Safe Routes, meet us Thursday mornings at either the front main gate or side gate to get a shoe tag. Then go to Active4.me to register their tag so you can get notifications with your student on campus.  Each week, students that participate get entered to win a prize.

 

I hope you all have a lovely 3-day weekend!  I can’t wait to see everyone back to school on Tuesday, January 17th!

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek  Thank you to all of our parents for taking time to meet with your child's teacher this week.  Our teachers appreciate this face to face meeting time with you.  We are all a team working together to help each child at Diamond Creek be successful and your support is such an important piece of the puzzle.  Thank you for your time and support! On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have our local Fire Department visit us and lead us through a fire safety assembly.  The students learned what to do in the case of a fire and were able to see the transformation that happens when our firefighters put on all of their gear.  On Wednesday, we had a building wide "READING DRILL".  We all stopped, dropped and read! It was a delight to see students throughout our whole building reading for 15 minutes all together.  I had so many students afterwards tell me they wished it was longer and ask if we could do that everyday! Week of September 12-16, 2022

  9/9/2022   Happy Friday Trailblazer families,   We completed our LEAD Passport adventure today.  Your children have now traveled to all 7 of our common areas to learn what it looks like to be great Listeners, be Empathetic, be Accountable and how to be Disciplined. Due to the smoke, we had them meet in their Village Meeting Spot and the presenters traveled to the students.
