Week of March 15-19

 Hello Trailblazer Families,

A reminder to "spring ahead" this weekend! We had a great week of learning at Diamond Creek.  Students truly put in hard work for the time they are on site. They are engaged in ELA, Math, Writing and more.  I am amazed at their ability to follow all of our procedures so well and stay so focused on learning.  Hats off to all of our amazing students and staff.

Villages Update
This week, students participated in our virtual Village Meeting. Students are continuing to practice and review Habit #6: All in This Together.   We had some amazing pictures and footage to share of our students working together and showing teamwork.

The essentials we are focusing on over the next month are:

1.Value each other's differences and what they contribute to the group as a whole
2.Congratulate other's accomplishments
3. If you see someone in need, help them

Make sure to look for these essentials at home too!
Linked below are the 7 Habits we discuss at Diamond Creek. Over the school year, we will spend time each month reviewing one of the 7 Habits along with the essentials that align with each Habit.

Feel free to print and use these posters at home as well.

TRAFFIC REMINDERS
Keeping our students safe is our top priority. Drivers, we are asking that you please follow these safety procedures while picking up and dropping off students.

1. Drivers please drive slowly through our neighborhoods and bus loops

2. Pull all the way up when moving through the loop, this helps us get more cars in the loop

3. The bus loops are not parking lots. If you would like to park and get out of your car, please use our lots or street parking to do so.

4. Please walk bikes and scooters on campus

5. We are asking that all cars in the morning go through our bus loops and not enter the parking lot next to the park in the same area as cars are exiting. This is creating a back up in our loops and also traffic coming from all areas and not safe for our walkers and bikers. Please wait to go into the upper grade parking lot side instead of cutting around cars

6. Please put cell phones down and not be texting as you are driving

School Site Council - What is it?
One of the most important functions in California’s public schools is the organization of a School Site Council (SSC).  This is a mandated State funded program where parents are elected to represent fellow parents in making decisions with the school staff on school-wide topics.  Issues such as school safety, parking, use of instructional aides, curricular programs being considered for adoption, and determining how some school improvement activities occur are important topics usually discussed by a Site Council.  In a sense, the Council is like a rudder of a ship helping to point out the ship’s direction.  Our School Site Council at Diamond Creek meetings the second Wednesday of every month.  Please feel free to email Mrs. Garcia if you have any items you would like the Site Council to review.  We appreciate your partnership.

FLAMINGO FLOCKING - PTC FUNDRAISER
We have confirmed reports flamingos will be landing in locations throughout Diamond Creek Elementary School for our first annual Social Distancing Fundraiser. Place your donations and orders for Flamingo Flocks to visit anyone in Roseville 95747 area.
