Week of August 26-30

WEEKLY NEWS

Hello Diamond Creek Families! We had so much fun this week kicking off our Villages time with students! On Wednesday, our TK and Kindergarten students had a special sorting day where they found out their Village and received their T-shirt.  Our new friends to Diamond Creek found out which Village they belong to as well!  Then on Thursday we had our first kick off rally for the 2019-20 school year! We reviewed all 7 of our Village names, colors and symbols as well as the 7 Habits they represent.  This first month of school, students are working hard on giving eye contact, greeting others and using kind manners.  We will have our first Village meeting on September 5th where our students will be reacquainted with all of their Village teammates.

We have a few big events happening this week including our first PTC meeting on Wednesday, Skate Night on Thursday and PICTURE DAYS as well!! Please look over the calendar below for more specific times and information.

15th ANNUAL WALK-A-THON - SEPTEMBER 12, 2019
Our 15th Annual Walk-a-Thon will be on Thursday, September 12th from 9:30-11:30am at Diamond Creek Elementary.

We are in need of some amazing parent/family volunteers for our event, because with the fabulous volunteers, we couldn't put on this awesome fundraiser for the kids.

Please CLICK HERE for our Sign-Up Genius that has a list of all the available volunteer positions available.Your child will come home with a donation envelope this Friday from school.  On this envelope were instructions on how your child can collect donations.  The envelope itself is for collecting cash and check donations.  The instruction sheet for 99 Pledges is our online collection service for all credit card donations.  It takes only about 5 seconds to create a personal donation page for your child that is linked to the school's Fundraiser page.  Once you have it created, you can share your child's personal donation page with all your friends and family on Facebook, Twitter or by email.

Here is a link to our 99 Pledges Fundraiser page where you can add your child.

We will be keeping track of our Top 5 Classes throughout our pledge/donation time with 99 Pledges.
The class with the highest donation collection at the end of the Walk-a-Thon will win a class party.

Thank you so much parents and Diamond Creek Families!

PARKING LOT SAFETY
When dropping off and picking up students please remember these important safety reminders.  This is to ensure our students at Diamond Creek are safe.

1. Both our small and large loops are drop off loops only. These are not areas to park.  Please stay in your car and drop your child off if you are going through the loop. If you need to park and get out of your car, please park in our parking lot or on the street.

2. Stay off of cell phones while driving through our bus loops.

3. When pulling in to the loop, pull all the way up.  Stopping in the middle of our loops stops the rest of our traffic from being able to move through quickly and safely.

4.  Please use the crosswalk areas to walk onto campus.  Walking through our bus loops is not safe. We have safety patrol specifically set up to help everyone cross safely.

Thank you for your help with these reminders.

TK and Kinder students officially in a Village!

CROSSWALK VOLUNTEER
If you are interested in helping us with our crosswalk area in the mornings before drop off, please email Mrs. Garcia.  We do not currently have a volunteer in that area to help families cross safely.

ROCK YOUR SCHOOL DAY!!!
We are SO EXCITED to announce that on SEPTEMBER 19, 2019 DIAMOND CREEK will be ROCKIN OUR SCHOOL! This is a day that schools across our nation are participating in and we are so pumped to be part of this day this year! We will be kicking off the day with a special rally followed by hours of meaningful, rigorous learning for our students. Our students will have the opportunity to visit some of our classrooms on this day that will be transformed into a glow room, medical room, a Book Cafe and more! We will be doing lots of learning and using our environment to engage learners at high levels! More details to come - we can't wait!

i-Ready Testing Window Grades 2-5
Students in grades 2-5 participate in a diagnostic assessment four times throughout the year called i-Ready.  This diagnostic allows us to measure growth in each of our students, find strength areas and areas of need, so that we can provide the appropriate instruction and intervention for all of our students.  Our first testing window is already open.  Students in grades 2-5 will be participating in the first round of i-Ready testing between August 8th and August 30th.  Each classroom teacher has a schedule set for their individual classroom.
