Week of February 4-8

WEEKLY NEWS
As of last Monday our Pennies for Patients total was over $3,000 after one week! We can't wait to hear our new total on Monday. Thank you for all of your support with this at home as we reach to achieve our goal of $10,000 being donated to the lymphoma and leukemia society.

Our students are hard at work in their classrooms.  I am constantly amazed at the math conversations they are having with each other.  Often times, our students are teaching me a variety of strategies to solve a particular math concept. Their ability to share why and how they solved a problem using a particular strategy is so fun to hear!

This week our Villages will meet on Wednesday for our Village meeting. We will continue reviewing Habit #4 and discussing how our tone of voice and body language contribute to our communication with others.

Student Leadership
New this year at Diamond Creek we have Student Leadership opportunities available for all of our 3rd through 5th grade students.  Leadership jobs include tasks such as library helper, lunch room line helper, playground equipment helper, student ambassador for new students, DC news crew, social media interns, and more!! We started our Student Leadership group this year instead of Student Council as a way to encourage more of our students to be leaders in a variety of areas across Diamond Creek. A huge thank you to Mrs. Lopez and Ms. Triplett for organizing and leading this group of students.

Girls on the Run - REGISTRATION IS OPEN - ONLY A FEW SPOTS REMAIN!!
We will be hosting a Girls on the Run team again at Diamond Creek this year.  Girls on the Run is available to all of our girls in Grades 3-5.  Registration opened on January 21st at 8:00 am. Each team may have up to 20 participants, we still have a few spots open.  Register at https://www.gotrsac.org/

Girls on the Run is a program created to inspire girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through our research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games. Over the course of the ten-week program, girls in 3rd-8th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.  We can't wait for our girls to experience this team again this year!
