WEEKLY NEWS

It was another great week together of learning at Diamond Creek! Our students are working hard to finish the Trimester strong! It's amazing to observe the growth as I am walking through classrooms and watching our writers, readers and math wizards take strides forward.  This Wednesday will mark the end of Trimester #1.  Our parent/teacher conference week is the following week, November 5th through 9th.  Teachers have been in communication with you regarding conferences in order to get those scheduled.  Students will be dismissed early this week.  Please look below for the conference week dismissal schedule.

I'm sure you feel the excitement at home as we do as well at school with the anticipation of Halloween.  Just a friendly reminder that we do not allow students to wear costumes to school on Halloween.   Our classrooms will enjoy some time together celebrating fall, but we ask that costumes be saved for the evening time at home.  Thank you for your help with this on Wednesday.   A reminder that students are also not in school on Thursday, November 1st and Friday, November 2nd. These are professional development days for our staff.

We had our first Reading Drill this past week as well! Students had the opportunity to STOP, DROP and READ!!!  Students love hearing the announcement and the chance to stop everything they are doing and dive into a good book!

Our 2nd through 5th grade students will continue taking the iReady diagnostic for the 2nd time this year anytime from now through October 31st. This is a diagnostic assessment that allows us to measure progress in ELA and Math for each student and plan intervention and instruction which is appropriate to each student's individual needs.

W.A.T.C.H. DOGS - 
We have officially kicked off W.A.T.C.H. DOGS for the 2nd year at Diamond Creek. Any Dads and Father Figures that would like to volunteer in our school for day, we would love to have you helping our teachers and helping us with school safety.  Information on W.A.T.C.H. Village Meeting & Rally Dates

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek  Thank you to all of our parents for taking time to meet with your child's teacher this week.  Our teachers appreciate this face to face meeting time with you.  We are all a team working together to help each child at Diamond Creek be successful and your support is such an important piece of the puzzle.  Thank you for your time and support! On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have our local Fire Department visit us and lead us through a fire safety assembly.  The students learned what to do in the case of a fire and were able to see the transformation that happens when our firefighters put on all of their gear.  On Wednesday, we had a building wide "READING DRILL".  We all stopped, dropped and read! It was a delight to see students throughout our whole building reading for 15 minutes all together.  I had so many students afterwards tell me they wished it was longer and ask if we could do that everyday! Week of September 12-16, 2022

  9/9/2022   Happy Friday Trailblazer families,   We completed our LEAD Passport adventure today.  Your children have now traveled to all 7 of our common areas to learn what it looks like to be great Listeners, be Empathetic, be Accountable and how to be Disciplined. Due to the smoke, we had them meet in their Village Meeting Spot and the presenters traveled to the students.
