Week of April 2-6

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek
We wish you a wonderful Spring Break with family and friends. The weather looks like it's going to be beautiful which is much needed for our students! We can feel the energy after having inside recess throughout the week!

It's been amazing walking through classrooms and observing our students writing individual goals for themselves related to their learning. We have many students who set iReady goals in 2nd through 5th grade and worked hard to crush their goals.  First grade students are setting goals for their Lexia level and their reading levels and are working hard to reach those goals.

A reminder that students are not in school March 26-30 and April 2nd.  Students return to school on Tuesday, April 3rd.  We wish you a wonderful Spring Break!

PICTURES FOR YEARBOOK
Hi Parents!
We are in need of pictures for the PTC pages of the yearbook this year. For example, if you have any pictures of your kiddos dressed in their sports jersey on sports day or with their crazy hair do before they leave the house, that's what we need! Any of your pictures from Walk-A-Thon, Fall Festival, Chik-Fil-A night, McTeacher Night, Crazy Hair Day, Celebrity Day, movie nights, skate nights, etc. would be greatly appreciated. If would like to share, please email them to sparklydeb@gmail.com and let me know what event the picture(s) are from. The more pictures we get, the better the pages come out and we want the kids to have these memories to look back on.

****I will need pictures no later than March 30.***

Thanks for your help!

Diamond Creek Choir
The Diamond Creek Choir sang in their first Choir Festival on March 10. They got to hear several other choirs from our district and participated in a workshop with one of the judges. In the Music World, there are 5 main scoring categories: Poor, Fair, Good, Excellent and Superior. Our Choir received a unanimous SUPERIOR rating which is outstanding, especially for being their first festival! The judges had some great comments about the ensemble and were very impressed with their sound and overall performance.   Way to go DC Choir students and Mrs. Dahl!

CAASPP Testing
The CAASPP Testing window for our 3rd through 5th grade students will be open from April 16th through May 25th.  Each classroom teacher has an individual schedule of when their students will be testing in Math and Reading. Our 5th grade students also have a Science portion of the test. This is our California State Test that allows us to measure growth and provide instruction for areas that are not being met as well.  Please make sure your child has a good, healthy breakfast and is getting lots of sleep throughout these testing days.  Sleep and proper nutrition are very helpful in allowing our students to show their best ability on these assessments.

Run For Roseville
Online registration for our annual Run4Roseville is now open! The run will take place on April 29th at 8 am at Maidu Regional Park. The Roseville City School District Foundation's annual Run4Roseville Schools is a community gathering to raise funds for our 19 elementary and middle schools. We hope you will join us for this fun-filled, annual tradition that supports music education and classroom grants for all of the RCSD Schools!
