Our Village Rally this week kicked of Habit #4 for our students, which is I am Mindful of Others . WEEKLY NEWS It was a rainy, windy week at Diamond Creek! Our students were excited to finally be able to have some recess time outside on Thursday.  Although, I have learned to be thankful for the rain in California after my few years of living here. All of our students attended our Pennies for Patients kick off assembly this week! You will have more information coming home with your child about our Pennies for Patients drive happening over the next few weeks.  Our students will eagerly be collecting coins that will be donated to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Foundation and go directly to helping children with these forms of cancer.  We have set some high goals for our Diamond Creek team this year and hope we can help many other children. Our next Village Rally is coming up this Wednesday, January 23rd! We can't wait to kick off Habit #4 with our students! WEEKLY NEWS Welcome back to all of our students and families! We were so excited to have our students back learning with us this week.  The students jumped right back into their learning routines as I was walking through classrooms. They had many stories to share with their friends.  We hope you had a wonderful break with family and friends. We had a Village Meeting this week.  Our students spent time together reviewing Habit #3: Make Priorities Matter and we especially talked about working before we play. Students brainstormed ways they "work first, then play" both at home and at school.  I heard many students talking about how they do their reading or their homework before they play outside with friends. We brainstormed a variety of strategies to help us stay focused and aware of distractions around us when those happen.  Thank you for supporting these habits at home as well! WEEKLY NEWS Hello Diamond Creek Families! We hope you're having a wonderful December with family and friends. A reminder that Friday is a minimum day, students will be dismissed at 2:05. This week we had our Village Rally.  Our focus this month is Habit #3: Make Priorities Matter.  At our rally we talked about working before we play.  We reviewed the following key points of Habit 3: 1. I do the things that I have to do before I do the things that I want to do 2. I stay focused on what I'm doing.  I try to minimize distractions and regroup if I get off task. 3. I spend my time on the things that are most important. These are such great lessons for our students and good reminders for us as adults! We updated our Habits posters to show our essentials and link with our village names.  The posters are attached below, feel free to use in your homes as well. WEEKLY NEWS Happy December Diamond Creek Families! Our students are doing an amazing job of staying focused on their goals and working hard in their classrooms! A big congratulations to our choir students who performed for our parents on Tuesday evening. They sounded beautiful! Thank you to Mrs. Dahl who spends hours planning, rehearsing, and helping our students tap into their passions and strengths in music.  We are very thankful for all of her work with our students.  Our choir students will be performing for all of our students on the morning of December 21st. We can't wait! Make sure to check out our student goals that are hanging around the school.   Students worked hard last week to write academic goals for themselves. WEEKLY NEWS We had a great full week back after break! We hope you had a restful Thanksgiving holiday week with your family and friends. Our students had a Village meeting Wednesday.  Our focus continued with  Habit #2: Know Before You Do It .   We discussed academic goals and what those may look like and sound like related to school work. Then each of our students made their own individualized academic goal. Our big buddies did an incredible job of leading and helping our younger buddies set and write meaningful goals. I was impressed at how specific many of our students were, such as achieving a certain level on Lexia or mastering division and multiplication facts up to ten.  We have some great goals to achieve this year! Academic Goal Setting in our Villages TOY DRIVE - BEGINS MONDAY Our Annual Toy Drive will begin at Diamond Creek on Monday, December 3rd! We will be collecting toys that will be donated to our local Police Department and delive...
