WEEKLY NEWS
Hello Diamond Creek Families,
It's hard to believe this is our final blog post of the 2018-19 school year. Thank you for all of your support this year in your child's education. It truly takes a Village and we appreciate your partnership in the academic, social and emotional growth of our children at Diamond Creek. Please take time this summer to relax, enjoy and celebrate the progress of your child(ren). They have worked hard! Of course, we love when our students read, read, read over the summer as well and come back excited to share new books they have read!
A reminder that there is No School Monday - Happy Memorial Day! Students are dismissed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 2:05. Our last day of school is Thursday, May 30th. Please join us at our Dine in the Park event happening on Wednesday evening from 5-8 PM in the park right next to Diamond Creek. We will have food trucks available and time for students to play and enjoy each other.
A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our parents who helped make our Field Day a success today! We appreciate all of your help with our students and for having fun with them! A special thank you to our PTC and Heather Weis for planning this amazing day for our students AND we had PERFECT WEATHER!
It has truly been an amazing year of learning and growing at Diamond Creek. Our Villages system has been a highlight for all of us and the Habits our students are exhibiting are truly incredible. We had our last Village rally on Wednesday. Our 5th grade students led us through this final rally and helped us review all 7 of our Habits. Our challenge to students is to remember these habits over the summer as they head into our community. We will continue our Villages system next year, students will remain on the same Village to continue to grow a sense of pride and collaboration with their Village members. We will welcome our TK and Kindergarten students on to their Villages in August. Thank you again for all of your support!

School Site Council - Open Positions for 2019-20 School Year
One of the most important functions in California’s public schools is the organization of a School Site Council (SSC). This is a mandated State funded program where parents are elected to represent fellow parents in making decisions with the school staff on school-wide topics. Issues such as school safety, parking, use of instructional aides, curricular programs being considered for adoption, and determining how some school improvement activities occur are important topics usually discussed by a Site Council. In a sense, the Council is like a rudder of a ship helping to point out the ship’s direction.
We have two openings for Site Council positions for the 2019-20 school year. If you are interested in serving on our Site Council, please email Mrs. Garcia with a statement on why you are interested in serving on our Site Council.

EDUTYPING AVAILABLE OVER THE SUMMER
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As part of the Roseville City School District Digital Literacy plan, all students in grades 1-4 were given access this school year to a typing program called EduTyping. The goal of this program is to help students improve their typing fluency. The program introduces students to typing using a row-by-row method with high frequency and sight words integrated throughout to reinforce reading comprehension.
We wanted to let you know that current 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-grade RCSD students will have access to EduTyping over the summer for any students that would like to continue using this program. Students in grades 1-4 in the 2019-2020 school year will have access all next year as well. Please see these instructions below on how students can log onto EduTyping at home.
Thank you,
The Roseville City School District
PARENTS OF 5TH GRADE STUDENTS:
The letter attached HERE was sent to all 5th through 8th grade parents in RCSD regarding our Social Studies curriculum.
