Week of April 3-7

What's Coming Up This Week? April 3-7 What a great week we had at Diamond Creek! Our second graders were building robots with the Genius mobile that visited their classrooms. It was exciting to see their creativity shining through in the way they each built such different robots.  On Thursday our second and third graders attended field trips and came back with smiles and great stories to share of their learning. Something new that we have added to Diamond Creek is our Student News.  We now have a green screen for students to create videos. Our Student Council is now using the green screen to produce new broadcasts that our students watch on Mondays for all important information.  Check out one of our broadcasts on the link below! Week of March 27-31

What's Coming Up This Week? March 27-31 Mark your calendar! This Friday is our Drop & Walk day. We are encouraging students to either walk or bike to school or get dropped off at one of our supervised drop locations and walk the rest of the way to school. This is a great way for students to get some exercise right away in the morning, socialize with friends and it helps our traffic flow of cars. Check out the flyer attached to this email for Drop Off and Walk locations. We are looking for a few volunteers to be located at our Drop Off locations as well to help with student traffic.  There was a SignUp Genius sent to all Diamond Creek families with the link. Thank you! Just a friendly reminder to please keep dogs at home and off campus when you drop off and pick up your students. This is for student safety and is a district policy. Upcoming Dates: 4/1 Tommy Apostolos Dinner & Dance! 6:00-10:00 PM 4/5 Chic-Fil-A Teacher Night 4/6 PTC Board Meeting 4/10-4/14 - Sprin...

Week of March 20-24

What's Coming Up This Week? March 20-24 WOW! What an exciting end to our week with a sneaky visitor over night (the leprechaun), St. Patrick's Day and CRAZY HAIR DAY!! So fun to see our students and staff showing their school spirit.  Our 3rd graders were working hard on preparing their Flat Stanleys to visit all over the world and writing letters to those homes that Flat Stanley will be visiting soon.  Please make sure to look over your child's report card that is coming home today and ask them how their second trimester of 2016/17 finished.  This is a great time to set goals with your child, celebrate the successes and look forward to a strong trimester three of the 2016-17 school year. Just a friendly reminder to please keep dogs at home and off campus when you drop off and pick up your students. This is for student safety and is a district policy. Week of March 6-10

What's Coming Up This Week? March 6-10 If you have a 3rd-5th grade student I hope they have shared with you their experience with our new Spheros! All of our 3-5 students have now had the opportunity to collaborate, problem solve and learn how to code.  Next up is our TK-2nd grade classes. They will be using the Spheros in the next few weeks. Our teachers even had some time to experiment with coding this week at our Staff Meeting. Our goal is to have this set of Spheros traveling to classrooms so students are having the opportunity to create and code! They are loving this time.  To finish off our February month of I Love to Read Month I also had the opportunity to read aloud some of my favorite books in our classrooms. It was a true treat to read with all of your students!
