Week of January 3-7

Hello Trailblazer Families,  Have a wonderful, relaxing, and safe winter break. We wish you all a Happy Holidays from our DC family to all of yours! We are so thankful to be part your child's journey in education. Happy Holidays! Students return to class on Tuesday, January 4th. Have a great break! Villages Students completed our next Village Rally in classrooms this past week. We kicked off and reviewed Habit #4: I am Mindful of Others. Our new essential we are focusing on is Greet Visitors and Make Them F eel Welcome . Students brainstormed and practiced different ways of greeting others. This is a great essential for our students to practice at home and in our community as well! Week of December 13-17

Hello Trailblazer Families,  Our 4th and 5th grade students have been hard at work taking the iReady diagnostic this past week. The rest of our students will take this diagnostic after winter break. The iReady diagnostic is taken three times throughout the year. We as a staff use the data from this diagnostic to plan intervention and extension for our students. The diagnostic gives us detailed data on the areas that students have mastered and next steps for them in their learning journey. Your child's teacher will share the results of this diagnostic with you when it's complete in late January. A reminder that Friday, December 17th is an early dismissal.   Hello Trailblazer Families,  We hope you had a great Thanksgiving break and remained healthy and well throughout the break. Thank you for continuing to be mindful of our COVID procedures and keeping students at home if they are not feeling well or you are awaiting a COVID test. This helps us keep more students and staff safe and healthy and in school. Villages We had a Village meeting this past week where we reviewed and practiced Habit #3: Make Priorities Matter. Students reviewed and practiced our focus essential: Stand Up for What You Believe In. Classrooms had discussions about the appropriate way to stand up for ourselves and what this may look like and sound like. Students were also given scenarios and asked to decide if the situation is one that you'd need to use this essential and what that may look like.
