Week of April 30-May 4

Updates from our week at Diamond Creek
A congratulations this week to all of our 4th grade students and their performance in their Gold Rush Play.  They were able to perform for our students and our parents this week.  Lots of hard work rehearsin lines and songs. Way to go 4th grade students!

Our 1st grade students have been learning about life cycles and have been observing this up close and personal with some real live insects and chicks.  This week one of our first grade classrooms released their butterflies that they had observed move through the life cycle.  We also had several chicks hatch out of their eggs this week in a few classrooms! Our new furry friends have been an exciting addition to the classroom!

BINGO NIGHT - THANK YOU!
Thank you to all of our parents and families who came out for our Spring Fundraiser BINGO Night. We appreciate all of your support! At our PTC Meeting on Tuesday, May 1st we will discuss our fundraiser and also be reviewing the results of our parent survey.  General Meeting is at 7:00 PM in the Diamond Creek library.  Pizza and child care are provided.

We have many items in our Lost & Found. We do have students look through these items during lunch each day and even put them on display on the stage during lunch.  Please take a look after school to see if any of the items belong to your child.  Thank you!

CAASPP Testing
The CAASPP Testing window for our 3rd through 5th grade students will be open from April 16th through May 25th.  Each classroom teacher has an individual schedule of when their students will be testing in Math and Reading. Our 5th grade students also have a Science portion of the test. This is our California State Test that allows us to measure growth and provide instruction for areas that are not being met as well.  Please make sure your child has a good, healthy breakfast and is getting lots of sleep throughout these testing days.  Sleep and proper nutrition are very helpful in allowing our students to show their best ability on these assessments.
