Week of April 19-23

Hello Trailblazer Families,

It was a great week of learning at Diamond Creek! Our 2nd grade students are enjoying their time learning about the Life Cycle with real, live caterpillars! Our 1st grade students are about to begin some new learning with the life cycle as well.  Lots of hands on and exciting learning happening in Science right now!

One of our 5th grade classrooms also had the opportunity to Zoom with a former Diamond Creek student who recently had her book published! Our 5th grade students are learning about interviews right now in ELA and were able to put their interviewing skills into action as they conducted a real, live interview with an author! Check out the picture below.

CANNED FOOD DRIVE: May 3rd - May 7th

Diamond Creek’s annual canned food drive kicks off Monday, May 3rd and we’re hoping to collect over 3000 food items in JUST 1 WEEK!!.

The food bank supply gets really low in the spring and they could really use our help.  Student Leadership has come up with some theme days to make this fun! You can bring in anything on the days of the drive, but if you want a little challenge try to bring in items related to each of the days listed below.

Macaroni and/or Marinara Monday (boxes of Mac n cheese and/or Spaghetti Sauce)

Tuna Tuesday (any canned meat item)

Wellness Wednesday (any canned fruit or vegetable)

Tomato Thursday (any canned tomato item)

Free Choice Friday (Any canned food items you have!)

***The only things we cannot accept are breakable or perishable items.

Villages Update
Students participated in our last Village meeting of the year. We spent time reviewing  Habit #7: Find Your Balance.  Students had time during our Meeting to create a self-portrait and fill their paper with positive qualities of themselves. We asked our students to pick one of those positive qualities that they will focus on this month. Make sure to ask them about their positive qualities and help them add a few more! Our focus for our students is to stay positive, enjoy life and show kindness to others.  We are working to live life without regrets.

The Essentials We Are Discussing Are:
1. Be the Best Person You Can Be
2. Be Positive and Enjoy Life
3. Live so You Never Have Regrets

These are such important essentials for us all to remember each day!

Linked below are the 7 Habits we discuss at Diamond Creek. Over the school year, we will spend time each month reviewing one of the 7 Habits along with the essentials that align with each Habit.

Feel free to print and use these posters at home as well.
